Gamescom 2025 is underway and alongside some big game announcements at its Opening Night Live show, there has also been a series of exciting reveals coming from Cologne.
One such announcement relates to the highly anticipated Xbox handheld as the ROG Xbox Ally has finally received a price and it is safe to say that you will need to get saving if you wish to commit to a purchase.
As the first Xbox handheld console, it is no surprise that fans are equally eager and hesitant to get their hands on the hardware and thanks to Asus, we now know that we will be able to get our hands on one as of October 16 2025.
With a simple version of Windows and a built-in Xbox app, players will be able to access Xbox’s large library of games on the go as well as even having access to Epic Games and Steam thanks to that Windows component.

However, last night saw the price tag finally revealed for both the ROG Xbox Ally and the ROG Xbox Ally X and they both come alongside an eye-watering cost.
The announcement claims that the ROG Xbox Ally will come in at 549.99 USD whilst the ROG Xbox Ally X will be 899.99 USD.

These are quite extortionate prices for handhelds but perhaps unsurprising considering all they have to offer.
Either way, potential customers were quick to share their thoughts on social media and it seems as though the price has been met with mixed views.
“$500 and under is when PC handhelds fly into my radar,” one user said over on Twitter.
“Any higher and I'm just looking to upgrade my video card instead.”

However, another user was pleasantly surprised.
“It's cheaper than I thought it would be! Nice!” They claimed.
However, it seems as though one user summed up the main issue with the ROG Xbox Ally’s high price tag.
“$900 is right on the edge of hesitation for me,” they shared.

“Like I want it and kind of need it but it’s more expensive than I’d like.
Problem is that getting a decent computer at that price is hardly worth it at all.”
It is definitely a big commitment but luckily, you have a few months left to decide if it is one you are willing to make.
