Steam drops 25 free games with thousands of hours of gameplay

Teenage Steam

There's a preponderance of free games on Steam, and can be quite hard to keep up with what's actually worth playing. That's why we're here, my sweet summer child.

It's no secret that most free games on Steam are free because they're a bit naff. So how do we keep track of all the best free games you can play on your PC right now? With a list. Obviously with a list. We love a list, so we've gone ahead and compiled 25 of the most popular free games that you can download and play at no extra cost. We're talking no subscription, no nonsense, nothing but gameplay.

Oh, be sure to check out our Starfield review below!

As promised, here are the the 25 best free games you can currently get on Steam:

  • CS:GO - The biggest game on Steam and one of the most popular video games of all time. You know all about it.
  • Apex Legends - The reason we don’t have Titanfall 3, but a damn good game all the same.
  • Destiny 2 - Bigger, better, and way easier to get lost in than Destiny.
  • War Thunder - a massively realistic military MMO.
  • The Sims 4 - If you don’t know what The Sims is I really can’t help you.
  • Dota 2 - Once it has its hooks in you, you’re done.
  • Warframe - Slick action, frequent updates, thousands of players around the world.
  • Lost Ark - Probably not as good as it could’ve been, but a decent MMORPG all the same.
  • Star Wars: The Old Republic - Those who stuck around can attest to the fact that Star Wars: The Old Republic is genuinely brilliant.
  • Team Fortress 2 - Another Valve classic and a piece of gaming history.
  • PUBG Battlegrounds - Former Fortnite rival and current cult battle royale.
  • Guild Wars 2 - Award-winning RPG with over 16 million players.
  • Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel - Believe in the heart of the cards.
  • Halo Infinite - Not the best Halo, but a free Halo.
  • RuneScape - An absolute classic of the genre. Old nerds will tell you it’s not as good as it used to be.
  • Marvel Snap - A card game that’s nearly impossible to put down.
  • Brawlhalla - Smash Bros style fighter that’s very easy to pick up and play.
  • World Of Tanks - Fight tanks with other tanks in a game that’s all about tanks.
  • Fishing Planet - Fishing minigame meets MMORPG.
  • Undawn - Open world zombie survival.
  • EVE Online - The people that play this game scare me.
  • Old School RuneScape - For the old nerds who tell you RuneScape isn’t as good as it used to be.
  • Fallout Shelter - One of the best management sims around, genuinely.
  • DC Universe Online - A surprisingly fun superhero MMO.
  • Bloons TD Battles 2 - Monkeys make bloons go pop.
