If you are a fan of Hollow Knight and need something to fill the void after finally finishing Hollow Knight: Silksong after waiting years for it to arrive, we have just the thing for you.

Not only does this brand-new release feature the platforming you know and sometimes hate from Hollow Knight, it also puts a unique spin on the genre by adding that Cyberpunk 2077-inspired twist.

Dubbed Versus in the Dark, the new title just dropped on Steam alongside a free demo. So if this sounds like your kind of thing, you can be one of the lucky players to try it out ahead of launch.

Developed by Little Combo, Versus in the Dark is a 2D fighter/platformer for up to four players as they embark on intense duels in Free4all, Teamplay, Online or Local modes.

Armed with a lightsaber katana, you will unleash fury as you battle in this high-speed, one-hit-kill platformer but with the catch being that all of you will be invisible.

Not only will you have to watch your step as you navigate multiple platforming levels, but you will also have to keep one eye on your opponent as they could be lurking in the shadows ready to cut you in half in one swipe.

Using the environment, you will be able to make yourself invisible by utilising everything from sky-tearing thunderstorms to flickering lights or even just nearby snow drifts.

However, with the slightest wrong move alerting your opponents to your location, every step you take must be meticulously planned if you wish to survive.

“Three buttons, no combos, no life bar - just one-hit kills,” the Steam synopsis for Versus in the Dark reads.

“Simple and easy to play, enjoyable for everyone in a few seconds. Master the art of invisibility in strategic and nervous battles mixing platforming, stealth, and swordplay with lightsaber katana.”

Described as “easy to pick up, hard to master”, Versus in the Dark is suitable for players of all skill levels and with up to five customisable game modes, you are guaranteed hours of fun with friends.

Not only that but with its pixel-art style mixing both feudal Japanese and modern-day street culture, you will stumble across Torii gates bathed in light and neon-lights flickering in the distance to create a stunning and speculator setting.

Support the game now, crowdfunding launched

As mentioned, Versus in the Dark does not yet have a full release date but a free demo is now available to play for PC gamers on Steam.

Additionally, a crowdfunding campaign is about to launch on Ulele, according to an Instagram post by Little Combo Games.

So if you wish to try out Versus in the Dark and also support its future development, make sure to show your love to one incredible looking platformer.
