The Resident Evil series in my opinion is still the undisputed king of horror games, even if the spooks and scares have slowly been replaced with action segments over the years.

Resident Evil 9 is currently in development, and given how it’ll launch for new-gen hardware I think we’re all expecting some fantastic visuals whenever the next game drops.

Resident Evil 4 (2024) looked pretty good in its own right though

In the meantime you can make the previous games look just as good with the power of mods, one of which turns the most recent title in the series into the most realistic look at the Resident Evil world we’ve ever seen.

Resident Evil: Village was already a gorgeous title, and its environmental storytelling did a lot of heavy-lifting when it came to the lore and scares Ethan encounters on his second outing.

Things get crazy on the approach to the castle, and Heisenberg’s factory has some of the most gorgeous views I’ve ever seen in a game so far.

However the game looks 100x better in a YouTube video by Digital Dreams, which showcases what the game looks like on the most high-end PCs and paired with a few graphics mods.

Running on an RTX 4090 with raytracing switched on, this ultra-modded version of the game ramps up the reflections and lighting to tremendous success.

You of course need the right set-up to truly appreciate the changes, but as far as things go this is the most beautiful Resident Evil: Village gameplay I’ve seen in a long time.

Seeing Ethan walk around the village and its surrounding areas feels creepier than ever when it’s photorealistic, and one can only imagine what an official project on new-gen consoles could look like when Capcom eventually shows it off.

If you want to achieve this kind of graphical fidelity in your own game, there are plenty of guides out there to do so.
