Resident Evil Requiem can step aside because this Resident Evil Village remaster is stunning and truly next-gen.

Before the release of Resident Evil Village in 2022, you’d be forgiven if you thought this game was some sort of giant vampire lady chasing simulator. Which, looking at the devoted fanbase of Lady Alcina Dimitrescu, I’m pretty sure there won't be many complaints if that were the case.

Don’t get me wrong, while Lady Dimitrescu is the most memorable villain in the game, she’s by no means the only one. In fact, there are several members of Mother Miranda’s family, namely Karl Heisenberg, Donna Beneviento and Salvatore Moreau. Not to mention all the mutated grunts that wander the village.

“Experience survival horror like never before in the eighth major instalment in the storied Resident Evil franchise - Resident Evil Village,” reads the synopsis of the game.

“Set a few years after the horrifying events in the critically acclaimed Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, the all-new storyline begins with Ethan Winters and his wife Mia living peacefully in a new location, free from their past nightmares. Just as they are building their new life together, tragedy befalls them once again.”

Resident Evil Village is a multiplatform game, and at least in terms of visuals, it shines the most on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

However, if you have a capable gaming PC, not only will the game look better as standard, but you will also have a wealth of awesome mods.

Resident Evil Village Has Never Looked Better

There are a variety of mods for Resident Evil Village, some certainly more savoury than others.

That being said, if you wondered just how much better this Capcom game can look, then take a peek at this video uploaded by the YouTube channel, Digital Dreams.

This modded version of Resident Evil Village is powered by a GeForce NVIDIA RTX 5090, enhanced with Beyond Limits ray tracing, played in a glorious 8K resolution at 60 frames per second.

However, to play this exact version of Resident Evil Village, you will need to support the Digital Dream Patreon, which will grant you access to over 300 presets.

Hopefully, this modded version of Resident Evil Village should keep us busy until the release of Resident Evil Requiem, where we’ll be taken back to Raccoon City in the mainline series for the first time in nearly 30 years.

Resident Evil Requiem will be released on 27 February 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2.
