Resident Evil fans may have spotted another returning character appearing in Requiem.
Last week it was revealed that Leon Kennedy would be appearing as the secondary protagonist in Resident Evil Requiem, something that was probably gaming’s worst kept secret of the year.
This marks the second returning character in the game, following the earlier reveal that Resident Evil: Outbreak’s Alyssa Ashcroft would be featured as the mother of the game’s protagonist, Grace.
However, Resi fans obsessing over the latest trailer may have also spotted another Resident Evil 2 character appearing in the game. Be sure to take this with a pinch of salt for now, as the details are very vague for the time being.

During the trailer, Leon is seen communicating with another D.S.O. agent over comms. Long-time Resident Evil fans may have assumed this to be Hunnigan, who would periodically check in with Leon during his mission in Resident Evil 4, and also appeared in Resident Evil 6.
However, the tiny glimpse we have of this agent is from over the shoulder, and we can see she doesn’t have Hunnigan’s dark curly hair. Instead, she appears to be blonde and has shorter hair, which could indicate the character speaking to Leon is actually Sherry Birkin.
Indeed, fans have even compared voices between the one heard in the trailer, and Sherry’s voice in Resident Evil 6, and it seems to be a match.
Is Sherry Birkin Appearing in Resident Evil Requiem?
Sherry Birkin was a character who appeared as a child in Resident Evil 2, appearing mainly in Claire’s story. She re-appeared again in Resident Evil 6, now in her 20s, and working for the United States government.
Capcom has said that Resident Evil Requiem takes place “thirty years after the Raccoon City incident”, meaning that Sherry will be around 42 years old by the time Requiem takes place.
It's certainly possible that Sherry could be brought back to tie-in with Leon's involvement with Raccoon City. After all, this is basically where it all started for both of them.

It seems like many fans are expecting more twists like this as the Resident Evil series goes back to where it all started, and the game could presumably feature even more characters from Leon’s past.
Of course, we haven’t had confirmation yet if Ada Wong is in the game. However, considering you can’t have a Leon story without Ada’s involvement, I’d be shocked if she doesn’t turn up at some point.
Resident Evil Requiem is out on 27 February, 2026 for PC, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2.
