The “correction” is subjective

A new and free Resident Evil 4 download corrects the entire game. Well, that all depends on your perspective, at least.

For me and so many others, the original Resident Evil 4 is a go-to comfort game. Originally released in 2005 on the Nintendo GameCube, despite shifting more towards action than horror, Resident Evil 4 not only became one of the best games in its series but also one of the best games of all time.

Resident Evil 4 scored a mighty 96 on the aggregate website, Metacritic, earning the “Must-Play” accolade. Today, it remains a timeless classic, which is no doubt why Capcom has ported the game to just about every platform imaginable.

Then in 2023, we got the fantastic Resident Evil 4 remake, an improvement on its predecessor in almost every way. Which, to be fair, should come as no surprise, considering it was released 18 years after the original.

New gameplay features were implemented, the graphics were improved, it had new areas, enemies and much more. The Resident Evil 4 remake is a joy from start to finish.

Both Resident Evil 4 games are all-time greats

Look, I know this may be considered blasphemy to Resident Evil purists, and trust me, I've been a massive RE fan since the very beginning. However, as much as I adore the original Resident Evil 4, I prefer the remake.

In my opinion, the original Resident Evil 4 was near perfection for its time, and so is the remake today. So, how do you improve on near-perfect, I hear you ask? Well, some modders might feel they have the answer.

One such mod is called ‘General Animations Corrector’, created by Histy, and is available to download for free, right now via Nexusmods.

This is a very specific mod that actually improves mods already implemented. In particular, mods that replace Leon S. Kennedy’s character model with a female one.

Typically, when replacing Leon with a female, she’d still have his animations. But not when downloading this helpful mod.

“This mod changes nearly all animations from the main game to be more accurate for female models, which replace Leon. Changed animations include enemy grabs, player animations, melees, death animations, weapons, and miscellaneous things such as ladders and wheels.”

This mod isn't my cup of tea, but if you like to replace Leon with female characters, then this looks like it is a must-have add-on.

The original Resident Evil 4 is out now on practically every platform in existence, while its 2023 remake is available on PC, PlayStation and Xbox Series X/S.
