Red Dead Redemption 3 tease leaves fans feeling conflicted

We're not sure how we feel about this

The hope of Red Dead Redemption 3 has burnt brightly since the day many of us finished our first playthrough of Red Dead 2. However, with Rockstar Games otherwise preoccupied with GTA 6, we’ve been doubtful if a follow-up will happen, and whether it even should.

Now, however, a tease at the third instalment has come fans’ way, and with it comes a sense of conflict as people are uncertain of where the story can go next. The RDR3 tease comes from Arthur Morgan actor Roger Clark after a fan tweeted him asking for any scraps of information he had regarding another game.

Speaking of Rockstar Games, have you watched the GTA 6 trailer yet?

“I’m certain we will see RDR3 one day,” said Clark, “When that will be – I have absolutely no idea. Don’t count on Arthur’s involvement either. His story has been told, I feel.” One hand giveth and the other taketh away, in both a moment.

In reply, one fan cried, “Ahhh, Mr. Morgan… I miss you.” So do we, my friend, so do we. Not that Morgan feels far away, thanks to GTA 6’s Jason already convincing fans that the upcoming game links back to RDR2 through genetics (albeit, graphics only genetics).

While we dry our tears, we have to be real for a moment and ask if no Arthur is really a surprise; his story does have a certain finality to it. Then there’s the question of how far past the Wild West era Rockstar can go before it loses the charm of the original two games; arguably, this is why fans are hesitant over another game. Still, if the game does go ahead, fans are in agreement that a woman should take the lead, with such a move deemed a “welcome change”.

Whatever happens, though, we’ll probably be looking at where the nearest nursing home is – if some of us older gamers will be dead by the time GTA 7 comes out, it stands to reason that the same can be said of when RDR3 launches.
