Red Dead Redemption fans have determined the most realistic part of the game, and it’s not just the scenery.

Rockstar Games truly outdid themselves with Red Dead Redemption 2. It’s a graphical and gameplay marvel that’s kept player interest for half a decade and is still considered to be one of the greatest games of all time.

It’s received high praise for its realism, which has prompted a discussion amongst fans to pinpoint which aspect of the game is the most impressive when it comes to attention to detail.

Red Dead Redemption fan JRushPro asked their fellow players: “What’s one thing you found the most realistic in this game? For me, I really LOVED being able to do pretty much any mission at any time of day, aside from the few that were scripted. A lot of open-world games progress the time to be done during at specific times, but this game is just whenever you decide to do it.”

While the answers varied, like the incredible open world, how snow crunches when Arthur/John walk over it, and how the NPCs interact and react to the player, one aspect of the game seemingly stood out amongst the rest, the wild animals.

“I love that the horses roll in the fields. And do it well and realistically. I love those little details that have no purpose other than world-building.”

“That you can come across deer with antlers locked to one another”

“Eagles hunting”

A few fans took it a step further and highlighted how much attention to detail Rockstar put into the game’s horse testicles, even programming them to shrink when the horse is in cold weather. It almost makes you feel sorry for whichever developer had to work on that part of the game.

As console hardware continues to improve, it makes you wonder how much more advanced Red Dead Redemption 3 will be, which will reportedly be Rockstar’s next game after Grand Theft Auto VI.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available on Xbox, PlayStation and PC platforms.
