The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild fans will enjoy this brand new AAA RPG launching later this year.

If you’re a fan of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, or just getting ready to tuck into Crimson Desert which is out later today, then you may also want to set your sights on Echoes of Aincrad launching later this year.

Releasing in July, Echoes of Aincrad is set in “a world of beauty and danger”, where “every battle could be your last”.

A pretty trailer was released for the game earlier this month, showing off some of the character and armour designs, also offering a good look at exploration and combat.

We’ve embedded the trailer for you to look at below, but if you’re a fan of Genshin Impact or Breath of the Wild’s anime-inspired aesthetic, there’ll be something to enjoy here.

Echoes Of Aincrad Looks Like A Mix Of Soulslikes And Zelda

The variety in visual designs for each hero is going to appeal to those who enjoy building up a character from nothing, especially for those veteran Dark Souls players who enjoy the game’s replayability as a result of the different builds you can make.

It looks like the combat is going to be very fast-paced, but will still employ the methodical, stamina-dependent gameplay that is associated with soulslikes. All-in-all, it looks like something that RPG fans should keep an eye out for as the year goes.

Echoes of Aincrad will release on Steam, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S on 10 July, 2026, with pre-orders available now for the Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate editions.

The blurb on Echoes of Aincrad reads: “Step into the floating castle of Aincrad, a world of breathtaking beauty and danger where every battle could be your last. Enter a mysterious, vibrant world and shape your fate. Create your hero, choose your gear, and master combat through your special skills and reflexes. Build synergy with the partner of your choice, level up, and unlock powerful abilities as your horizon expands with every victory.

“Will you rise and claim your destiny or fall to foes stronger than you imagined? This is not just a game; it’s a battle for survival. Take up your weapon, shape your legend, and enter an adventure to risk your reality.”
