The Legend of Zelda is one of the most beloved franchises of all time, let alone within the RPG genre.
You can’t, of course, enjoy The Legend of Zelda on any console other than one belonging to Nintendo.
That being said, new projects have surfaced over the years, bringing the Zelda-lite formula over to other platforms.
PlayStation 5 users, for example, can now enjoy a slice of a brand new AAA RPG that should scratch the itch left by the absence of Zelda.

The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales has launched a free prologue demo on the PlayStation Store which you can download by simply searching the game’s title.
The game’s formula is perhaps more akin to classic Zelda titles, more so than something recent like Breath of the Wild or Tears of the Kingdom.
“A brand-new action RPG from the creators of OCTOPATH TRAVELER and BRAVELY DEFAULT – The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales combines stunning HD-2D visuals and exciting action-adventure gameplay for the first time,” reads the game’s synopsis.
“The adventurer Elliot and his fairy sidekick Faie set off on a journey across four ages to fulfil a thousand-year mission.
“Enjoy intuitive and rewarding action-based battles with strategic support abilities from a fairy as you reveal this world’s mysterious history.”
Players will be able to equip two weapons at a time, fending off a variety of beasts throughout their travels, while companion Faie will help you out with some spells.
As the synopsis teases, this is a “thousand-year mission”, so your journey will take you through time and that’s possible thanks to the aptly named Doorway of Time.
You’ll journey to “the Age of Safekeeping”, “the Age of Reconstruction”, “the Age of Magic” and “the Age of Budding”.
The free prologue grants players access to the opening chapter of the game “with the same freedom of adventure as in the full game”.
“Progress in the main quest, explore the unknown, or hunt down new weapons and magicite—the future is up to you,” its description states.
“Your adventure in Philabieldia, a world filled with discovery, starts here!”

There are a few limitations, with some differences such as limits on accessible areas”.
Adding to the good news, all progress you make in the prologue will carry on over into the full release which is set to land very soon.
The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales arrives on 18 June where it’ll be available across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
The demo is freely available across those platforms and should take you roughly 90 minutes to complete.
