It’s well known that you cannot enjoy any of The Legend of Zelda’s offerings on PlayStation.

There are, however, many wonderful RPG experiences inspired by the acclaimed Nintendo franchise, including Elementallis which has just launched a free demo on the PlayStation Store.

Available across both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, the demo gives you a decent sample of what this charming title from indie developer AnKae Games has to offer - plus if you enjoy what you play, the full release is out now.

Elementallis will easily remind you or offer a taste of the The Legend of Zelda games of yesteryear with its gorgeous pixel-art retro visuals.

Wield Elemental Attacks In This Top-Down Retro-Inspired RPG

Played from a top-down perspective, it’s set within a world where “the Elements have gone wild” placing everybody in danger.

“Driven by guilt, you embark on a journey to restore them all and conquer the temples where each Element resides,” the synopsis reads.

You’ll need to fend off enemies, solve puzzles, and unearth secrets across the game’s world.

Combat plays out in real-time with players able to wield elements like Avatar’s Aang, combining water, lightning, ice, earth, and more in order to create some thrilling combos.

You'll have a sword and shield with players encouraged to strategise to use elements that’ll help exploit enemy weaknesses.

There are eight temples within the game which sort of function like dungeons: solve puzzles and work your way through batches of enemies before facing off against the boss.

These are located among eight unique biomes, from tropical climes to desolate clifftops. Each biome has its own NPCs to assist, plus unique loot to find.

The more Elements you restore, the more abilities you’ll unlock which, in turn, will unlock more locations.

“Experience a story of self-discovery and the journey to heal a broken world and a broken self,” devs tease.

Play 90 Minutes For Free Thanks To A Generous Demo

Elementallis’ demo allows you to play through the beginning of the game, experiencing the first biome and giving you a decent idea of the various mechanics including those present in combat.

It should take you between 60 and 90 minutes to complete, so it’s a pretty comprehensive sample.

The full version of Elementallis has already proven a hit with players having launched last month.

It boasts a ‘Very Positive’ 87% rating on Steam.

“Fun, nostalgic gameplay directly inspired by the Oracle Zelda games mixed with Golden Sun's psyenergy approach to puzzle solving, would very highly recommend on that alone,” reads one Steam review.

“I enjoyed my time with Elementallis. I was looking for a Zelda 2D clone and that's exactly what I got,” adds another.

The PlayStation 5 version of the demo has been awarded five out of five stars by a whopping 74% of players, correcting at the time of writing, so if you’re low on something to play this weekend, this could very well solve your woes.
