Asha Sharma hasn’t wasted any time in putting her stamp on things at Xbox.
In February, Sharma replaced Phil Spencer as the CEO of Xbox which, yes, has also dropped the name Microsoft Gaming.
It’s been a difficult few years for Xbox with the company having made a string of polarising decisions that alienated long-time fans.
The ‘This Is An Xbox’ marketing campaign signalled a shift away from traditional hardware while Xbox began shipping former first-party exclusives to competitor consoles.

Since taking over as CEO, Sharma has shut down that aforementioned campaign, while telling fans that exclusivity is being looked at.
She’s pushed for visibility on Project Helix, Xbox’s next major console, and heralded in a price reduction on Xbox Game Pass.
Alongside all of this, Xbox Game Pass has introduced new tier options, plus Xbox consoles have overhauled achievements.
It’s been quite the comeback for the green brand and for the first time in quite a number of years, Xbox users are excited about what the future holds.
We should learn more about that future at next month’s Xbox Showcase but today, another change is being introduced.
Today, Xbox will be rolling out a new system update that’ll introduce the brand’s new boot-up screen and most excitingly, many think the new logo may have been drafted up to Project Helix.
You can see the boot-up screen below.
“The Xbox saviour. She has made Xbox great again,” said one fan.
“Sounds like a darker tone to the 360 boot. Hope we go back to that alien feeling from the OG Xbox,” added another.
“Yeah, you may be the GOAT,” one comment read.
It’s unusual for Xbox to roll out updated logos mid generation which is why there’s some suspicion that this could be a Project Helix tease, especially as we know more information on the console is coming this year.
There’s also merit in the comment comparing the boot-up screen to the Xbox 360. That was arguably Xbox at its peak.
It’s perhaps not unreasonable to suggest that Xbox executives might be looking back at that era to determine why it worked so well.
As for Project Helix, no updated reveal window has been given beyond ‘later this year’.
Xbox will hold its annual showcase on 7 June, a few days after Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest.
It’ll air at 6pm BST / 10am PT / 1pm EDT.
If you can’t tune in, we’ll be covering all of the event’s headlining updates live.
As for the boot-up update, there’s no precise time on when it’s due to drop today, so keep an eye out for when a system update does become available.
