Grand Theft Auto VI is finally due to land in eight months time; that’s if it’s not delayed again by Rockstar Games.
As the final countdown is underway, the opening of pre-orders is surely only a matter of time.
It’s something that many are waiting for with baited breath following years of speculation over how much GTA VI might cost.
Analysts previously claimed that GTA VI could be the first game to charge above $100 for its standard edition, citing its scale as being unlike anything else seen in the industry to date.

While that latter statement is true, a $100-plus price tag isn’t consumer friendly in the slightest, prompting months of debate from fans split between saying they’d pay it or they wouldn’t.
If you fall into the latter camp, you might be relieved to know that it sounds as if GTA VI will be priced in line with modern industry standards which, admittedly, are already pretty high.
Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick recently sat down with The Game Business for an interview. Take-Two is, of course, the parent company of Rockstar Games.

Strauss was asked whether GTA VI would feature in-game advertising to boost revenue.
“Very difficult for me to believe that we would want to have interstitial advertising in a game that someone paid 70 or 80 bucks for would seem unfair,” he replied.
That should lay to rest worries from fans about the game costing far beyond that.
It’s perhaps safe to assume that $70 or $80 would refer to a standard version of GTA VI. It’s likely there’ll be deluxe or collector’s editions.
GTA VI Is Designed To Appeal To Newcomers, Zelnick Revealed
Elsewhere in the interview, Zelnick explained that he wasn’t concerned about the long gap between GTA V and GTA VI.
In fact, he specified that it could work in the game’s favour. Fans of the franchise no longer need their parents permission to buy the game, for example.
He also made it clear that GTA VI doesn’t require you to have played previous instalments, making it perfect for newcomers.
This still doesn’t settle when we can expect to see GTA VI pre-orders go live.
To date, all key updates on GTA VI have fallen within a few days of a Take-Two Interactive earnings call.
The company’s next edition is due to be held on 14 May. That feels like a pretty safe bet for when pre-orders might open.
It’s six months ahead of the game’s release, plus Zelnick has already made reference to marketing ramping up in the summer.
May definitely falls into that category. As soon as pre-orders do open, we’ll be certain to bring that news to you.
