Video games have gifted us with some of the greatest stories ever told, having the ability to make us laugh and cry the same way films can.

That being said, a recent Reddit post addressed the common phrase “It’s just a game” by showing off some of the most powerful scenes in gaming history, and Red Dead Redemption 2 fans think the final mission of the game tops all of them.

The post, created by Ajdam4, featured key scenes from The Last Of Us, Ghost of Tsushima, The Witcher 3, and of course Red Dead Redemption 2.

The final mission, also known as Chapter 6, has gained a reputation for reducing even the most stoic of gamers to tears, as it marks the end of Arthur Morgan’s journey in the game. Despite initially being resistant to Arthur stepping into the role of the main character, many quickly warmed to his charm and would consider him one of the greatest protagonists of all time.

His final send-off where he says his goodbyes to his horse and John Marston is frequently called a “masterpiece” that still lives rent-free in player’s minds years after the game’s release.

Fans of the Rockstar Games Western quickly took to the comment section to share their memories of seeing the scene for the first time, many claiming it “broke” them emotionally.

“This s*** broke me in more ways than I want to admit.”

“I just got through that scene this past weekend. Goddamn. I was not ready for the ride that this game has been.”

“Very painful segment. What a beautiful game it was. Complete and Perfect in every way.”

There’s no news from Rockstar on if there’ll be a Red Dead Redemption 3, and if it's been anything like Grand Theft Auto VI’s development, it’ll likely be years before we even come close to another sequel/prequel.

If a third game is made though, there’s a good chance we’ll see Arthur again, especially if it’s another prequel.
