This PlayStation 5 hardware setting is a must and will vastly improve the gameplay and visuals for thousands of backwards-compatible games.
Whether we play on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S, both are wonderful machines that can provide countless memories thanks to the video game series we love, such as The Last of Us, Halo, Gran Turismo, Gears of War and much more.
Speaking of which, Gears of War: Reloaded (a remaster of the original game) is out now on PlayStation 5 and Halo: Campaign Evolved, a remake of the 2001 game, is coming to the Sony console in 2016. What a weird and wonderful time we live in.
However, much like previous generation consoles, we can watch Blu-ray movies, stream popular apps such as Netflix, play music, and much more. But the more modern consoles can improve on some of the features that came before.

For example, playing backwards compatible games will not only look lush in a 4K resolution but will also benefit from a frames-per-second increase. Yet, at least on PlayStation 5, those backwards compatibility enhancements can be improved a little more, as explained by a Reddit user.

How to Improve Backwards Compatibility on PlayStation 5
“I’m new to PS5 Pro - what do we need to know?” asked MinorFX.
“Just curious if there is anything new Pro users should know, change, toggle, etc, with their new PS5 Pro?
"I am by no means a power user, but I would love to take full advantage of what this console is capable of, especially when paired with the proper peripherals.”
Not only have we recently received a tip that helps improve the Wi-Fi connection when using the PlayStation Portal, but Reddit user WingerRules provided this very handy tip for when playing PS4 games on PS5: “Make sure 'Enhance Image Quality for PS4 Games', 'Apply VRR to Unsupported Games’ is on and HDR colour is set to 'Always On’.
"I think I had to turn these on in my system. The HDR setting will make it map HDR to PS4 games that didn't ship with support for it.”
“Awesome! This is exactly the kind of information I was hoping for. I’ll make sure to check that these settings are on,” thanked MinorFX.
In my humble opinion, backwards compatibility is one of the best features on any current console, especially on Xbox Series X/S.
As great as current-gen games can be, sometimes it's nice to take a trip down memory lane, even more so when that experience is enhanced with a resolution and framerate boost.
Hopefully, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo will continue this welcome tradition in the new generation. Fingers crossed!
