If you’re a fan of Cyberpunk 2077 and the Batman: Arkham series, then you might want to check out this PC freebie that you can download this week.

When Batman: Arkham Asylum launched in 2009 on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, it changed the game for superhero adaptations. Sure, we had a few exceptions, such as 2004’s Spider-Man 2, but by and large, it felt that there were more misses than hits.

Batman: Arkham Asylum was soaked in atmosphere, tension and intrigue, had fantastic combat mechanics, lush visuals and a story that kept me hooked from start to finish. From that moment forth, the bar for superhero video games was well and truly raised.

Pretty much all the games in the series that followed are bangers, and I include the likes of Batman: Arkham Origins and Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate into that mix.

As for Cyberpunk 2077, sure, it had a very rough start when it launched in 2020, but developers CD Projekt RED have worked tirelessly to not only fix its many issues with a wealth of content updates, but it’s probably fair to say that this Blade Runner-inspired sci-fi RPG is one of the best games of its genre.

What Game Blends Batman: Arkham and Cyberpunk 2077?

The game in question is the side-scrolling action title, Replaced, developed by Sad Cat Studios and published by Thunderful Publishing.

After watching the gameplay trailer, I can instantly feel the Blade Runner influence, a classic movie that inspired the likes of Cyberpunk 2077. The sprite, neon-lite visuals are gorgeous, and its soundtrack has an enticing vibe. It certainly makes me want to play the game right now.

Where Does the Batman: Arkham Inspiration Come Into Play?

Looking at the trailer, I struggled to see any inspiration from the Batman: Arkham series; however, GAMINGbible’s Sam explained that aspect in his hands-on preview.

“Combat works like the Batman: Arkham games, with quick-paced strikes occasionally broken up by a counter, executed by tapping the button at the right time,” Sam explained.

“Enough melee strikes will charge up your primary weapon, a standard-issue police firearm that can be shifted into a baton. The gun can only be fired when it has enough charge, and can be done so either at range or up close for a flashy takedown, that wouldn’t be out of place in a John Wick film.”

When Is the Replaced Release Date?

Replaced doesn't release until 12 March 2026, but its demo launches this week on Steam. The playable demo arrives on Wednesday, 11 February. At this time, there is no word of a console demo.

Replaced will be released on PC and Xbox Series X/S. You might also be pleased to know that it’s launching on Xbox Game Pass.
