PlayStation pulls one of its biggest games from sale in multiple countries

Another one bites the dust

Sony PlayStation has apparently made a boo-boo that won't sit well with a lot of fans after it reportedly pulled one of its biggest video games from sale in multiple countries.

Recently, Sony has come under heavy criticism due to its requirement of needing and linking a PlayStation account to play Helldivers II on PC via Steam. What’s more, Helldivers II was delisted from countries where the PlayStation Network isn't available resulting in the game being unplayable for millions of gamers.

Check out the Ghost of Tsushima trailer below!

Thankfully, the requirement of linking a Steam account to PlayStation has since been removed to play Helldivers II, however, that’s not the end of the recent Sony woes. The latest PlayStation exclusive to arrive on PC is Ghost of Tsushima from Sucker Punch Productions, a game that has achieved high critical acclaim.

So being able to play Ghost of Tsushima on PC is great news, sadly, it’s seemingly not great news for everyone. Reportedly, following in the footsteps of making Helldivers II not available in countries that do not have the PlayStation Network, Ghost of Tsushima is the latest game to be delisted.

Sure, we already knew that linking a Steam account to the PlayStation Network was a requirement to play the Ghost of Tsushima multiplayer mode ‘Legends’, but to reportedly pull the entire game, which is primarily a single-player title seems drastic.

Ghost of Tsushima was released on PC this month on 16 May, so it's baffling that whoever makes decisions to pull games from sale in regions that do not have the PlayStation Network, would not decide before the game was released. “So I guess Sony is going after other games as well,” said Redditor freakshow9009, sharing an image of a conversation with PC game key seller, Green Man Gaming.

The email from Green Man Gaming, states that Ghost of Tsushima has been pulled from sale from its store due to a customer region being “restricted from creating a PSN account.” The email confirmed that all customers would be refunded if they had purchased Ghost of Tsushima in a now-delisted region.

We’ll be keeping our fingers crossed that Sony drops the PlayStation Network requirement to play Ghost of Tsushima on PC soon. Ghost of Tsushima is out now on PC, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.
