Sony’s PlayStation Plus subscription service offers a vast variety of epic games from the modern era and of yesteryear.

Depending on what tier you subscribe to, PlayStation Plus has a little something for everyone whether it’s a PS1 classic such as OG Resident Evil: Director’s Cut to a modern gem like Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart. With hundreds of games available in its ever-evolving library, you’d struggle to find at least one game that doesn't tickle your fancy.

Check out the launch trailer for Death's Door below!

Earlier this week, Sony revealed its PS Plus games for August 2023 included in the basic Essential tier which features golf-sim PGA Tour 2K23, the endlessly creative suite Dreams and finally indie darling, Death’s Door, and it’s the latter that is today’s topic of discussion.

“PlayStation Plus Monthly Games for August: PGA Tour 2K23, Dreams, and Death’s Door,” shared Redditor MeDungeon.

“Dreams is a good choice for PS Plus because the game desperately needs more players. I also heard good things about Death's Door,” replied GuardianOfReason with brucepayne66 adding: “Death's Door is phenomenal. Highly recommend it.”

It seems that much of the Reddit thread was happy to see the inclusion of Death’s Door, whether it’s those that have already played the game or those that are new.

“Death's Door is seriously one of the best indie games I've had the pleasure of playing. The combat is really tight, the humour is judged perfectly, and the music is some of the best I've heard just in general (the main motif will get stuck in your head forever, I promise),” a Reddit user explained. “It's a beautiful adventure and I really recommend picking this one up at least.”

In our review of Death’s Door, we said: “Where other adventure games so often collapse into mediocrity under the weight of their own influences, Acid Nerve has combined excellent combat and striking world design to evoke the very best of Zelda and Dark Souls for a journey that feels genuinely fresh, if not entirely revolutionary.”

In related news, a day one launch on PS Plus has been described as a ‘must play’ and a ‘massive win’ for subscribers. What’s more, subscribers can also take advantage of an early screening of a highly anticipated movie.

The PlayStation Plus Essential games for August 2023 will be available on Tuesday, 1 August. Death’s Door is out now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
