PlayStation Plus users can now dive into GOTY contender Baldur's Gate 3

PlayStation Plus users can now dive into GOTY contender Baldur's Gate 3

PS Plus subscribers can play Baldur's Gate 3 for free!

2023 has truly blessed us with some amazing video games including The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Starfield, the Resident Evil 4 remake, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and many more.

One other game that has taken the video game industry by storm is the D&D-inspired RPG from Larian Studios, none other than Baldur’s Gate 3 which will be taking on Alan Wake II for the Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2023 next month.

Check out the Baldur’s Gate 3 trailer below!

One of the benefits of subscribing to PlayStation Plus, at least to the Premium tier, is the offer of being able to trial games. These trials which are basically fancy playable demos can range from less than an hour to five hours of playtime. During that time, you can unlock trophies and your progress will carry over should you decide to purchase the full game.

Recently, two of the most talked about RPGs of 2023 joined the PlayStation Plus Premium trials, one of which is the aforementioned Baldur’s Gate 3. The other is The Lord of the Rings: Gollum from Daedalic Entertainment. Both games are certainly conflicting in quality with one being a Game of the Year contender and the other being the worst Game of the Year contender.

So if you want to see what all the fuss is about in regards to the popular RPG from Larian Studios, you can play Baldur’s Gate 3 for free (within the price of your subscription) thanks to its two-hour PS Plus trial. If for whatever reason you want to punish yourself, you can also play The Lord of the Rings: Gollum for an hour. Honestly, morbid curiosity compels me to play the Gollum trial. I guess I just hate myself.

It’s great to see Baldur’s Gate 3 being offered in a trial because the constant accolades and praise would be enough to persuade many gamers to pick up this RPG. As for The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, I’d be shocked if the hour-trial resulted in any purchases unless you wanted to send a gift to your worst enemy.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is out now on PC and PlayStation 5 with its Xbox Series X|S release expected to arrive next month. The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, is available on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
