This new fan project is recreating Baldur’s Gate 2 inside Baldur’s Gate 3, adding even more content to an increasingly long game.

Larian Studios has made it clear that while there are a few more updates on the way for Baldur’s Gate 3, there are no plans for substantial DLC expansions or Baldur’s Gate 4.

Take a look at the trailer for Baldur’s Gate 3 below

There are also seemingly no plans to remake the previous two Baldur’s Gate games using the modernised gameplay of Baldur’s Gate 3.

That being said I think we all know by now that whatever a developer isn’t willing to do, fans are more than willing to oblige, as one fan has set out to recreate the map of Baldur’s Gate 2 within the boundaries of the third game.

This gargantuan feat is being undertaken by modder Lotrich, who’s going through the painstaking progress of making the second game playable in the close-up perspective Baldur’s Gate 3 boasts.

While the project is still in the very early stages at the time of writing you can see a video showing its current level of progress on YouTube.

The video is titled Promenada Waukeen Baldur's Gate 3 Custom Map (Work in Progress), and shows the character Gale walking through a brand-new environment.

Despite being a bit rough around the edges in places some great work has been put into the build so far, and one can only imagine what a finished project could look like, though it’s likely going to take months to get that far.

Baldur’s Gate fans commented on how impressive the build is, with one hoping it can one day become “a full ‘custom’ campaign.”

“Great work! — I can still hear Ribald welcoming me to the Adventurer’s Mart. Maybe modern gamers will get that chance too one day.”

“The era of Neverwinter nights 1 and 2 modules is back, amazing” added another commenter.
