PlayStation Plus users gain surprise bonus free download for 2024's latest release

Who doesn't like a freebie?

To celebrate the recent release of one of 2024’s most-anticipated titles, Sony is giving PlayStation Plus members the chance to get their hands on some freebies.

Released earlier this week, XDefiant is the latest free-to-play first-person shooter on the market and this time, it has been developed by Ubisoft.

Check out the launch trailer for XDefiant below!

Featuring fast-paced online matches with arena style settings, XDefiant sees players pick between factions Libertad, Phantoms, Echelon, Cleaners and DedSec with each offering different abilities on the battlefield.

Additionally, players can try out their customised loadouts in a variety of different modes including arena and progression modes set across a series of original maps.

With the shooter up against some competition in the genre, it is going to have to do a lot to stand out but it is still early days for the Ubisoft title.

However, to celebrate its release, a free download can be found for all PlayStation Plus subscribers.

The XDefiant PlayStation Plus Pack includes two skins for your in-game weapon and character: the Crimson Iselda Skin and the matching Red Marbled M4A1 Skin.

The freebies can be downloaded and used on the PlayStation 5 and will be an excellent addition to the equally free XDefiant.

As for the game itself, it currently sits at an average 5.4 user score on Metacritic so it doesn’t seem to be breaking any barriers at the moment.

One review read: “It's refreshing to get on a game with abilities and all objective based matchmaking modes. You wanna play Team Deathmatch, go get on Call of Duty, but if you want a true team base game then this is what you are looking for.”

Another positive review read: “This game is excellent, without pay-to-win mechanisms, and it has a clear old taste of fast FPS. I have a clear feeling that the game is close to what I expected as a previous fan of Modern Warfare 2.”
