If you’re a subscriber to Sony’s PlayStation Plus subscription service, then you’ll want to download this hit RPG at no extra cost.

Regardless of the tier that you subscribe to, PlayStation Plus offers fantastic value with first-party exclusives, third-party AAA big hitters and underrated indie darlings that may have flown under your radar.

Following the announcement of Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, which can be described as classic Yakuza meets Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag, there appears to be a lot more talk of the fantastic RPG series from SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio (like seriously, it’s about time).

This series is weird and wonderful, and despite having some surreal comedic moments, its multi-layered storytelling knows how to pull at all your heartstrings. Honestly, if you’ve never played this series, you’re missing out and I would recommend starting with Yakuza 0.

Earlier this week, Sony announced 11 new games coming to PS Plus this month and one of those games is the elongated-named Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name.

In my review of Like a Dragon Gaiden, I said that it “brings us a heavy dose of Kazuma Kiryu with an abundance of joy that will have you grinning from ear to ear and I wouldn't want it any other way, ridiculously long title and all.”

Without giving too much away, Like a Dragon Gaiden takes place in between Yakuza: Like a Dragon and Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, starring the endlessly charming Ichiban Kasuga.

As I said earlier, if you want to experience this series in its entirety, Yakuza 0 is a great place to start. However, if you want to play more recent titles in the series, then Yakuza: Like a Dragon is also a great entry point.

Once you’ve done with Yakuza: Like a Dragon, you can then jump into Like a Dragon Gaiden, which is coming to PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium next week. Both of these titles will set you up wonderfully for Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth followed by Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii.

Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name arrives on PS Plus on Tuesday, 21 January. As for Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, that releases on 21 February for PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
