There are countless times when PlayStation Plus is hugely beneficial for receiving freebies, however, this latest free download isn’t one of those times.

As announced at PlayStation’s State of Play, SEGA has dropped a free demo of its upcoming Like Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii.

Here at GAMINGbible, we’ve already joined this band of misfits, with our Richard Lee Breslin describing it as a “swashbuckling good time”.

If you’re on the fence about this new addition to the Like a Dragon franchise, our first suggestion is to read Richard’s preview of the title in full.

Then once you’re done with that, you’ll likely be eager to play the free demo via the PlayStation Store.

Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is gonna be so much fun

Due to launch on 21 February, this is a game both PS5 and PS4 players can enjoy. Unfortunately, however, the demo is for the PS5 version only.

Even though this will prevent many from enjoying this free download, that hasn’t stopped fans from getting pumped about being able to play it early.

“This is just peak,” remarked @EnvoyOfRot on YouTube. “Finally Majima got his own Gaiden.”

“Yakuza doing a better pirate game than skull and bones,” commented @TheGamingmaster5000, casually throwing shade Ubisoft’s way.

As for whether the demo save will then be transferred over to the game upon release, this doesn’t seem to be the case. This is more of a playable teaser that cherry picks the best bits of the experience so you know exactly what you’re getting into.

In the words of @klussas, “This is gonna be bonkers.”

It certainly will be, but for the best of reasons.

The free download is available right now, though as previously mentioned, only for the PS5 version.

Once the game is out on 21 Feb, both PS4 and PS5 players will be able to set sail.
