You can currently explore Grand Theft Auto VI’s map on PlayStation 5 as we speak, but you’ll need a rather roundabout method to do so.

Is Grand Theft Auto VI’s May 26 release date simply too long to wait for you? Are you frantically looking for some kind of way to explore Rockstar Games’ upcoming Florida-equivalent setting ahead of time?

Do you, by any chance, own a copy of Far Cry 5 on PlayStation 5?

Alright, if you already don’t know where I’m heading with this, I’d wager you’re probably a touch confused as to what the hell I’m on about right now.

Far Cry 5 has a genuinely cool as hell mode that is oddly underutilised, and I’m only ever reminded of it when I see something as cool as today’s example.

Ubisoft decided to put a pretty cool custom map editor into Far Cry 5, packaged within its Arcade Mode.

The map editor features assets from loads of Ubisoft titles, including Assassin's Creed: Origins, Assassin's Creed: Black Flag, Watch Dogs, Far Cry: Primal, and Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon.

The map editor has spawned a ridiculously impressive amount of custom maps over the years, and one talented individual named FreshWar on YouTube has decided to add their latest creation to the pile.

After 300 hours of work, FreshWar produced a map that faithfully recreates everything we've seen so far from the Ocean Drive portion of GTA VI's map (by using promotional materials as reference).

For the time being, the 1:1 recreation can only be played if you own a PlayStation 5 copy of Far Cry 5, but the creator has stated that a PC port of the map is on the way.

In the meantime however, you can have a gander at FreshWar’s YouTube video which shows off the end results.

Here’s hoping the song that they used for the video isn’t featured on any of GTA VI’s radio stations.
