PlayStation free download drops, no PS Plus needed

We all like video game freebies, otherwise, I doubt you’d be reading this article and the freebie featured in this article is one for PlayStation gamers.

Sony’s PlayStation Plus subscription service offers gamers the choice of hundreds of video games to play at their disposal, especially when it comes to the top two tiers, Extra and Premium. Yet, the best thing about today’s story is that you can claim freebies without even subscribing to PS Plus.

Today’s PlayStation freebie is for fans of Tekken 8 and those who are members of Sony’s PlayStation Stars rewards scheme. PS Stars is a rewards scheme that gives members points for completing campaigns which can be spent on digital collectibles, store credit and free video games.

Released this year, in my review of Tekken 8, I said: “It claims its rightful spot amongst the elite of its genre as it ushers in new contenders for its prestigious King of Iron Fist Tournament.

As for the topic of today’s discussion, it’s all about the digital collectable which can be proudly displayed on your PlayStation mobile app profile, none other than the neon Chipotle pepper in celebration of the recent ‘Tekken 8 Chipotle Tournament’.

The Chipotle collectable is graded as ‘heroic’ so it’s sought after if this kind of thing tickles your fancy and if you want to claim it, all you have to do is boot up Tekken 8 on PlayStation 5 and participate in the aforementioned tournament. However, this reward is time-sensitive, so you might want to act fast to avoid missing out.

I’ve just checked the PlayStation Stars campaigns on my mobile app and this campaign isn't available to me, at least not yet. So it may be specific to certain regions or it might not have rolled out in my area.
