One of the most anticipated titles of the year

Hell Is Us is a game that, fair to say, plenty of us have had an eye on for a long, long time.

First announced back in 2022, Hell Is Us was originally planning on releasing the very next year, but after a prolonged hiatus, it finally returned during a 2024 State of Play.

Well, it is now targeting a 4 September release and ahead of that date, you can sample it for free courtesy of a brand new demo.

If you’re here, it’s because you’re a PlayStation gamer, so I’m happy to tell you that the demo is available on PS5 consoles.

Alternatively, you can nab it on Xbox Series X/S and PC too.

Developed by Rogue Factor and published by Nacon, Hell Is Us is an action-adventure title, for those not in the know, played from a third-person perspective.

Players will assume the role of a soldier called Rémi who’s tasked with fighting beings known as Hollow Walkers.

“If war is the closest we get to hell on earth, it's because Earth harbours the worst of demons: humankind. In an isolated country ravaged by infighting, discover the secrets of your past and deal with the repercussions of a mysterious calamity,” reads the synopsis.

You’ll be able to pick from a wide range of weapons, including swords, spears, and axes, which you’ll combine in combat with the use of your handy drone.

There’s also a sprawling world to explore, albeit one with no map, compass, or quest markers; Hell Is Us encourages players to rely on their instincts.

As for the demo, that allows you to play the first chapter of the game.

From what I can see from playthroughs having already been posted, you should be able to wrap it up in less than an hour.

It’s already garnering praise.

“Just finished it and I really liked it ! Once again a demo is selling me a game. Just the fact that I felt bad when I thought the game would let me play the second area is a good indication,” Reddit user DarahOG wrote.

They continued, “Honestly, very interesting game, from the plot to the systems, I really want to see and play more of it. It takes a lot of inspiration from other games, maybe a bit much but it still manages to be it's own thing.”

“Just finished it, and that honestly might be the best demo I've played for a game since FF16's. Absolutely love the atmosphere,” added karma6063.

It sounds like it’s a game worth trying.
