Ghost of Yotei Players Given Free PlayStation Download, No PS Plus needed

If you have been enjoying Ghost of Yōtei and want a similar game that captures the same magic, you are in luck as PlayStation is offering this hit hardcore tactical stealth game for absolutely free.

Released just last month, the Ghost of Tsushima successor is already well on its way to receiving that Game of the Year nomination with players praising its nods to the original whilst also managing to improve on its minor issues.

In his review, our very own Richard Lee Breslin called Ghost of Yōtei “a powerful revenge-driven tale”.

“Ghost of Yōtei is pure cinematic brilliance, and Sucker Punch Productions deserves to be commended once more for knocking it out of the park and, in some ways, topping its predecessor.”

However, all good things must come to an end with many players having wrapped up their first playthroughs.

That being said, if you are eager to dive back into the action but this time with a game that takes the magic of titles such as Ghost of Yōtei and combines it with the gameplay mechanics found in the likes of Baldur’s Gate 3, you do not want to miss out on this latest addition to the PS Store.

First released back in 2016, Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun is a stealth-oriented real-time tactics title by Mimimi Productions.

Set in Japan during the Edo period, players will follow the story of a new Shogun who, after seizing power over Japan and bringing peace to the regions, recruits five specialists who will be able to protect him against assassination attempts and conspiracy theories that threaten to overrule him.

With skills ranging from assassination to sabotage and espionage, these five specialists will do whatever it takes to protect the Shogun and that is where you come in.

Players will be able to control the gang of misfits which include Hayato, an agile ninja, Samurai Mugen who a much more bloodthirsty killer, Aiko, the master of camouflage in the guise of a Geisha, street child Yuki who uses traps to lure her enemies to a bloody end and finally Takuma, the mysterious marksman who relies on sniping enemies from a distance.

“Take control of a team of deadly specialists and sneak in the shadows between dozens of enemies. Choose your approach when infiltrating mighty castles, snowy mountain monasteries or hidden forest camps. Set traps, poison your opponents or completely avoid enemy contact,” the official synopsis reads.

“The group is composed of very different personalities. Working together as a team seems impossible at first. Yet over the course of many missions, trust is won and friendships are made. The characters develop their own dynamic and each member will have to face their own personal demons.”

Now Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun is free to download and keep on the PlayStation Store by following these two simple steps.

It is unclear if this is a glitch on Sony’s part or if it is truly available to grab for free but you had better hurry in case of the former.
