Lost Soul Aside launched just a few days ago, and it’s all been a rather quiet affair.

Certainly, the game has generated some chatter but considering it’s published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, I can’t say it’s a title I’ve seen dominate my social feeds all that much.

That could be down to its average reviews.

Over on Metacritic, Lost Soul Aside has secured a score of just 60 on PlayStation 5, with critics lamenting the game’s lack of vision.

By all accounts, Lost Soul Aside boasts a pretty fun combat system, but lacks an engaging story with poorly written characters and dialogue ultimately resulting in an experience that feels pretty mid.

Of course, everyone is entitled to their own opinion though, and what is dull to one person may be enjoyable to another.

That’s why it’s nice that you can sample Lost Soul Aside for yourself, free of charge.

Yes, Ultizero Games has launched a free demo on both the PlayStation Store and Steam.

If it’s the PlayStation version you seek, it’s totally free; just search Lost Soul Aside on the store.

This isn’t one of those silly trials locked behind PlayStation Plus’ premium tier.

The demo grants users access to “the first step of a hero’s journey” in which you’ll get to take on two boss battles, so you’ll certainly get a taste of the game’s combat system which is seemingly its best asset.

Annoyingly, progress will not transfer over should you decide to purchase Lost Soul Aside in full.

The first of the two available boss battles is against the Rose Queen, “a legendary warrior unleashing flurries of rapid strikes and dazzling slashes”.

The second will see you fend off “the Empire's formidable champion, Holy Knight Commander Victor, and the immense Ancient Mecha”.

In this instance, it does sound like the player consensus is level with the critical consensus.

Lost Soul Aside currently has a user score of 5.7 over on Metacritic.

Given that this demo is free though, there’s no harm in giving it a whirl and making up your own mind.

It should take you less than an hour to complete.
