PlayStation Drops 8 New Freebies You Don't Need PS Plus For

Free stuff is free stuff, after all

PlayStation Plus users seem to have all the fun these days, with a ton of free stuff releasing all the time. With each increase in tier, the good stuff only keeps coming, but that leaves us asking what there is for those who have bought Sony's flagship console, but don't want to be tied down to a rolling subscription?

Well, fortunately, there are still some nice demos to be on the lookout for that should keep you entertained for a while, or even give enough context to make the decision on whether to buy that new game that's on the horizon.

There are a lot though, so it can be difficult to sort the wheat from the chaff, but we've done our best to pick out some gems from the big pile of upcoming titles that have recent demo versions on offer.

First up is Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion, the highly anticipated sequel to the game of the same name, that places players into the jackboots of a high tech warrior in a fully realised open world. It's all about upgrading your arsenal and finding a build that works well, so you can tear through your enemies with relative ease. The game also features full support for co-op and multiplayer, and it's there that it shines the most.

Horror fans should look no further than Dead Reset, a live action narrative horror where player choice affects how the scenes play out. We won't give away anything on the story here, as it's best experienced for yourself, but the acting is excellent and there's plenty of gore, if that's your kind of thing.

SULFUR has been out since the end of 2024, and it's an underrated gem where you can take advantage of complicated builds and setups to murder your enemies. Currently in Early Access on Steam as well, the game is being updated all the time and the demo gives a great look at what you can expect from the full game.

There is also a demo available for the Gothic 1 Remake, one of the best remakes of the last year, that gives an idea of just how different it is from the original. If you didn't like it first time around, don't let that put you off, as this is also one of the most comprehensive rebuilds you'll find anywhere.

Rounding out our picks for the best demos on the PS5 in recent weeks are high-intensity racer Fast Gear, Bandai Namco's SUPER ROBOT WARS Y, F1 spinoff Formula Legends and the genuinely brilliant SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance.
