Alien: Isolation fans who finally want to turn the tables on the Sevastopol can now use this player-made mod that allows you to play as the Xenomorph.
As one of the best horror games, and certainly one of the most terrifying games of all time, Alien: Isolation is best remembered for the scares we got hiding from the titular alien.
Hiding in cupboards, under desks, or anywhere else we could fit ourselves, the dynamic AI of the Xenomorph is among some of our favourite gaming memories.
For players who wish to turn things around and have a completely new experience in Alien: Isolation, this new mod that allows you to play as the Xenomorph is now available to play on the PC version.

Gagen's Playable Alien puts you into the shoes of alien. Instead of playing as Amanda Ripley, you're now the alien. You can walk, run, crawl through vents, as well as hunt humans and androids, so you can live out your dream of being a xenomorph onboard a space station to your heart's content.

The mod also has a few extra features. You can play as a Facehugger or an Android, as well as spawning in characters, teleporting the Alien to yourself or any NPC, and take screenshots in a photo mode. It's essentially more of a proof of concept, and for fiddling around with camera tools rather than a mod that you can use in a serious playthrough.
The mod is currently in development and is still in beta, but it's available for you to download from Nexus Mods if you'd like to check it out.

Alien: Isolation 2 is coming next year, we've played it
The AI of the alien in Alien: Isolation is often cited as one of the best horror game enemies across all of gaming. It behaved like a stalker enemy, where players would consistently have to hide or use cunning to outsmart the xenomorph as it hunted them.
The sequel to Alien: Isolation was announced at the end of 2024, with a bigger reveal occurring earlier this year. The game takes place a few months after the events of the first, where players take on the role of Blake, a member of a Weyland-Yutani survey team who gets trapped on a colony world that encounters the same breed of Xenomorphs from the Sevastopol.
We played a demo of the game earlier this year at Summer Game Fest, with our Sam saying, "Unfortunately, my hands-on experience with Alien Isolation 2 didnât leave me with much of an impression, but Iâm still optimistic that this will be a worthy sequel. The Xenomorphâs AI in the first game was so ahead of its time that youâd almost expect the sequel to feel like itâs dragging its feet a bit.
"With a probable release window of 2027, thereâs more than enough time for Creative Assembly to cook, and Iâm hoping that time is used to push the Xenomorph to its full, horrific potential."
