PlayStation Plus’ premium tier is home to game trials, but you don’t need a subscription to sample every upcoming title.
Many publishers make their demos free for all to enjoy via the PlayStation Store, and I want to run you through eight of the newest additions.
First up, you can now enjoy a slice of POOLS from Tensori Oy which is a difficult game to describe.
It’s not exactly a horror, but it is described as a game that feels oppressive.

“One could say POOLS is like an art gallery where you look around and listen to the sounds,” the synopsis reads.
“There are very few things to solve, practically a few mazes. Sometimes the game can challenge your navigation skills. But mostly you're just... there.”
It’s inspired by the liminal space aesthetic.
If you fancy something more light-hearted, Digimon Story returns with Digimon Story: Time Stranger.

Players will get to sample the opening chapter of the game with all progress transferred over upon release.
You’ll also be able to explore Central Town in Adventure Trial mode, with select areas and dungeons of Iliad also available.
Adventure Trial data is not transferred over though.

Wales Interactive brings us Dead Reset, a new horror experience that incorporates live-action footage.
“Trapped in a terrifying death-loop, surgeon Cole Mason is kidnapped and brought to an underwater facility, forced to operate on a patient to extract an evolving parasitic horror,” the synopsis teases.
Creepy.

Keeping it with horror, Tormented Souls II now has a demo available too.
Developed by Dual Effect, this is a survival horror where Caroline Walker returns, exploring the decaying remains of Villa Hess, using improvised weapons to take on monstrous creatures.
Her goal? To save her sister from a twisted cult.
Back to roguelites, Halls of Torment - Prelude is now available to sample from developer Chasing Carrots.

There’s plenty of content featured within it by the looks of it, including unique bosses and monsters.
There are five playable characters to choose from, as well as over 100 quests to complete - and yes, that’s just in this free prelude.
Each run is said to take around 30 minutes.
Perfect Random brings us a demo for Sulfur, a “modern old-school action-adventure”.
Part RPG, part FPS, you’ll essentially need to survive in a world filled with dark creatures “and cunning evil”.
I’ll finish up with Ocean Drive Studio’s Lost Eidolons: Veil of the Witch, a tactical roguelite RPG.
Roguelites are really having their moment lately, huh?
In this demo, you can get a feel for the game’s battles and branching progression, facing off against the undead as you take on one of the game’s deadly bosses.
All progress transfers over should you pick up the full release.
The question is: which will you pick up first?
