PlayStation Drops 7 New Free Downloads, No PS Plus Needed

Completely free

As we’re in the middle of Gamescom week, developers and publishers across the world are keen to get their games into players’ hands.

A lot of these games are still a ways off being released, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be able to experience a small slice of the gameplay ahead of time.

So if you’re pretty excited by all the upcoming games set to release in the second half of the year, PlayStation has just dropped seven new free demos, and the best part is you won’t need PS Plus to play them.

In terms of what’s been added, we’ve got a new demo for Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter, the stunning remake of the original from 2004. It’s expected to hit PS5, PC and Switch later this year.

Similarly, we’ve also got the demo for Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion, the open world mech JRPG and sequel to the 2019 game.

If JRPGs aren’t your thing, there’s also Hell Is Us demo. This is a singleplayer RPG set on a post-apocalyptic world, and it looks a little Death Stranding-like.

The rest of the recent PS5 demo drops include downloads for indies like Towa and the Guardians of the Sacred Tree, Fast Gear, Super Robot Wars Y, and Deadzone: Rogue.

Remember, demos on PlayStation 5 are different from “trials”, which are exclusive to PlayStation Plus Premium.

Demos are intentionally smaller slices of a full game that have a specific cutoff point, and the rest of the content is inaccessible to you.

Meanwhile, trials on PS Plus basically give the full game, except you get a time limit on when the game is no longer available. It’s usually somewhere between two and ten hours, depending on the size of the game.

Be sure to check these out if you’re interested in getting them. It’s always a good idea to try the demo for a game first before purchasing, even if you know you’re probably going to end up buying it anyway.

We don’t want you getting buyer’s remorse, after all.
