You’re going to hear this sentiment a lot, but it’s because it’s true; what a week it’s been for video games, huh?
It’s, of course, the Nintendo Switch 2’s launch day.
Did you manage to nab one? Perhaps it’s arriving in the post today, or maybe you attended a midnight drop at your local store.

Mine is still two days away, welp.
Alongside that, PlayStation brought us a State of Play last night, albeit one that received mixed reviews but you cannot deny that 007 First Light looks fantastic.
Summer Game Fest is to be held tomorrow night, on 6 June, and we’ll be bringing you all of the event’s updates live - and the same can be said for the Xbox Showcase, which’ll air this Sunday on 8 June.
That’s still not all as this week also brought us the State of Unreal showcase which featured a stunning new look at The Witcher 4, a game which is being developed in Unreal Engine 5, courtesy of a tech demo.

I need to make it clear what a tech demo is.
This is not gameplay lifted from The Witcher 4; what was shown during State of Unreal instead uses the game’s engine and world to give you an idea of what to expect.
As such, the end result won’t be a carbon copy of this tech demo, but it shouldn’t look all that dissimilar either.
What’s got Grand Theft Auto VI fans very excited is the fact that The Witcher 4’s tech demo was shown running on a PlayStation 5 at 60fps.

The glimpse offered of the Kovir region confirmed that it’s set to be enormous.
What’s the relevance? Well, GTA VI is another game that’s set to be huge and as such, fans have been suspecting that the game might be capped at 30fps.
It’s what we saw happen with Starfield, although Bethesda isn’t exactly a studio known for dazzling or optimised visuals.
What The Witcher 4 tech demo has done though is offer hope that GTA VI might be able to run at 60fps due to the shared scale between it and what we’ve seen of The Witcher 4.

Both games have teased large open worlds, yet ones that retain a certain density when it comes to activities and interactive NPCs.
“There could be hope for a 60fps mode in GTA VI,” wrote Twitter user GTAVI_Countdown.
“That would be great,” replied UygarNFT while its_menieb added, “I think Rockstar can definitely do it. They made RDR2 work on PS4/Xbox One [...] They’re wizards.”
Of course, this is all speculation so we’ll just have to keep our fingers crossed that Rockstar has some magic in store.
