Ubisoft is giving away free PC games for select users who have purchased digital games on Xbox.
Starting this week, Ubisoft is allowing users who own certain digital games on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S to also claim the PC version at no additional cost.
This is slightly different from Xbox Play Anywhere, which allows you to play your Xbox games across both console and PC using the Xbox app. Instead, you’ll be able to play these games using Ubisoft Connect.
The main benefit of this is you won’t need to connect to Xbox’s servers to play the game, something which suddenly looks very enticing following this week’s Xbox server outage which left millions of users unable to play their purchased titles.

It also means you might have an easier time getting the games running on Linux. The Xbox app only works on Windows PCs, but with a bit of Proton tomfoolery you can get certain Ubisoft games running on Linux-based systems such as the Steam Deck and Steam Machine.
The list of games that Ubisoft is allowing you to claim on PC is as follows:

If you own the digital versions of any of these titles on Xbox One or Xbox Series X/S, you can claim the PC version by linking up your Xbox and Ubisoft Connect accounts.
The transfer will also include season pass purchases and other DLC content, but it does not include in-game currencies and consumables except for games which feature cross-platform save support.
If you’d like to see exactly what content you own on PC, open the Ubisoft Connect app and find your game library. It’ll display the edition name tied to your account, and each game’s Properties page provides a breakdown of your own DLC and add-on content.
This process also works for obtaining the PC version and not vice versa. You can’t get the Xbox version of a game that you own on PC.
Additionally, Ubisoft is also adding a new selection of games with premium editions and add-on content to the Xbox PC app. The highlights of this selection include games from across the Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Watch Dogs franchise, but also includes Star Wars Outlaws, Skull and Bones, and Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown.
