The Elder Scrolls 6 can wait while you dive into this massive Skyrim fan expansion

This will keep you busy in the meantime

Like everybody else, I’m incredibly excited for The Elder Scrolls VI’s launch - even if it is many years away.

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a tad nervous too.

I have great faith in Bethesda but I worry that the game will be bogged down by noise.

As one Bethesda veteran recently explained, even if The Elder Scrolls VI is an “amazing game”, it might not live up to fans’ expectations due to how long-awaited it is.

Still, I shall cross my fingers and hope for a wonderful game and a smooth launch.

In the meantime, I have found just the thing to keep myself busy - and so, naturally, I have to impart this recommendation upon my fellow The Elder Scrolls enjoyers.

If you’re looking for a way to revitalise Skyrim, then you may want to check out the ‘Shumer and The Priest Kings SSE’ mod.

Let’s remind ourselves of that original The Elder Scrolls VI teaser trailer which landed all the way back in 2018.

Created by NexusMods user agerweb, ‘Shumer and The Priest Kings SSE’ essentially imports an incredible Dungeons & Dragons-inspired quest into Skyrim.

The story is set on the continent of Shumer, making use of the land’s rich 4,000-year history.

By completing quests, reading books and journals, and talking to the local townsfolk, you’ll learn all about the continent - although I’m loath to spoil the story and explain its significance.

As a region, Shumer is about the size of three Skyrim holds, featuring over 150 marked locations and 40 unmarked locations.

Within those locations, you can meet over 1,000 NPCs and there are over 8,500 lines of dialogue bringing this tale to life.

There are two small islands to explore too, Barbella and Althira.

The exploration alone will keep you busy for many, many hours but let me tell you about the quests too.

There are 21 main quests, with 34 side quests, 21 guild quests, and 70 miscellaneous quests.

There are an additional 38 quests scattered across Barbella and Althira, as well as Skyrim.

Add in a Great Jar Hunt and 52 new books, and you should get the impression that this mod is a whopper.

You need the Dawnguard and Dragonborn DLCs installed in order for ‘Shumer and The Priest Kings SSE’ to work but if you tick that box, you can download the mod for free from NexusMods now.
