One day, Bethesda will release The Elder Scrolls VI. It could be this year. It could be next year. It could be five years away. It’s anyone’s guess.

I could sit here and estimate a launch window based on the evidence we have, but I’m not sure it would provide you with any solace.

Given that we’ve seen precisely nothing of the game since its vague announcement trailer landed in 2018, I don’t think any of us will really believe it’s coming until there’s a re-reveal.

It’s with that in mind that I’ll urge you to revisit The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

Sure, you might’ve played it a bajillion times, but there’s always something on offer in the world of modding that makes another playthrough worthwhile.

For you, that might be the newly released ‘The Rot Below’, a “three to six hour dungeon experience”. I'm sold!

‘The Rot Below’ is a Fully Voiced New Fan Offering

‘The Rot Below’ is the work of NexusMods user TheCrowKnight and considering it’s the modder’s first creation on the site, it packs an impressive amount of content.

As I teased, within the mod’s three to six hour runtime, players can expect to encounter “a host of terrifying enemies” as well as “three boss battles”.

Perhaps best of all, ‘The Rot Below’ features “over 350 professionally voice acted lines” which will surely add to the immersive quality of this creation.

Predominantly, players will encounter Iich Malkifer, the mod’s villain, and Adabelle, a bard who you’ll need to rescue. There’s also a character by the name of The Undead Blacksmith. That sure sounds like a boss name.

That’s far from all as ‘The Rot Below’ also introduces new items. You can head over to the NexusMods listing to learn more, but a new spell that sees you conjure undead aid is one of the new offerings introduced.

TheCrowKnight has soundtracked ‘The Rot Below’ too so you don’t have to listen to Skyrim’s score for the umpteenth time, although it is fantastic.

The mod experience is totally free to download. Of course, it goes without saying that you’ll need to be playing Skyim on PC, plus you’ll need to be at level 30 or above.

At that point, the quest line will be triggered and yes, you can bring one follower with you.

Bethesda is incredibly lucky that Skyrim is so well supported by its community. Creations like this really do make the wait for The Elder Scrolls VI that bit more bearable.
