ARC Raiders Rolls Out Harsh New Ban System For Cheaters

Embark Studios has a plan to tackle cheaters

ARC Raiders developers, Embark Studios has implemented its new ban system to tackle the ever-persistent issue of cheaters.

ARC Raiders is a story of great success in 2025. Sure, there was some decent build for the new online extraction shooter from the indie team at Embark Studios, but few probably could have predicted the success the game would become.

To close out 2025, as a cherry on top of the cake, Embark Studios received the well-deserved ‘Best Multiplayer Game’ gong at The Game Awards, which no doubt helped maintain the already impressive ARC Raiders player numbers. According to SteamDB, ARC Raiders has had an all-time concurrent player peak of nearly 482,000 following its launch. At the time of writing, the 24-hour player peak is over 282,000. I would assume that console numbers are impressive too, but sadly, we don't have access to that data.

Unfortunately, as fantastic as ARC Raiders is, and no matter the player numbers it continues to draw, it can never quite get rid of its pesky cheaters. To be fair to ARC Raiders, cheaters in online multiplayer games is an issue across the board and is not exclusive to a single title.

As brought to our attention by HotHardware, following the release of a recent update for ARC Raiders, a new method has been deployed to coexist alongside Embark Studios' anti-cheat software, Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC).

One of the common complaints of genuine ARC Raiders players is encountering cheaters who go out of bounds to get kills, while others have been able to steal loot. If someone steals your loot in ARC Raiders, this is the best chance of getting your loot back.

The anti-cheat tactic used in ARC Raiders is a simple, ‘three strikes and you're out’ system. Strike one will result in a 30-day suspension. Strike two will be a 60-day suspension, and with the third strike, you’ll receive a permanent ban.

I’m not exactly sure how Embark Studios will know the difference between a genuine cheat receiving a strike, compared to an honest player who might be a victim of the ban system being abused.

I would assume that with each of the two strikes resulting in a 30-day and 60-day suspension, respectively, it should reduce the chances of an honest player being a victim of a spam campaign from other players. Hopefully, this system works well and fairly.

ARC Raiders is out now on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
