Void Hunters has been unveiled, an upcoming party-based RPG set within a dark fantasy world.
If you didn’t tune into the recent Future Games Show’s Spring Showcase, you may have missed its reveal.
Developed by Artifex Mundi, Void Hunters’ formula should most definitely appeal to fans of both Baldur’s Gate 3 and The Witcher - and I’ve yet to mention the fact that the game will be totally free.
“In the wilds, where maps lead nowhere and law means nothing, the Void Hunters make their stand,” the synopsis begins.
Advert
“Living on the outskirts of society, they hunt the world-devouring Void.
“In this dark fantasy, F2P, turn-based hero collector, all Hunters are fully realised characters with a place in this world, relationships to uncover, and distinct motivations that shape who they become.”
Partake In Void Hunters’ First Alpha Playtest Very Soon
Players will be able to “collect” and command a wide array of Void Hunters, levelling them up as you upgrade their skills and gear.
The turn-based party combat is very much akin to Baldur’s Gate 3’s, so carefully strategise to gain the upper hand against your enemies.
Succeeding in a mission will seemingly grant unique bonuses that “reshape your squad’s power”.
Your goal is to investigate rising Void activity as you track missing Hunters throughout the game’s main campaign.

That campaign will put you up against the “dogmatic religions Order rise” and you’ll face off against plenty of enemies.
I have to say, gameplay clips reveal some pretty cool boss designs.
Void Hunters is currently only due to arrive on PC via Steam and mobile; a release date is not yet available.
I can tell you, however, that an open alpha test will be launching very soon according to a press release.
In order to get involved in that, it’s recommended that you sign up via the game’s Discord server.
Both crossplay and cross-progression will be available between the two versions of the game which is always a relief to hear.
Despite the success of ARC Raiders and Marathon, it’s still a tricky time for live-service releases, so it’ll be interesting to see how Void Hunters fares when it does eventually launch.
The game’s Steam listing is now live if you simply want to wishlist it to be kept up to date on its progress.
