Some PC users will be able to boost Starfield’s framerate to 60fps, though it’ll take some powerful hardware to do so.

Starfield is one of the biggest upcoming releases of the year, and Bethesda has done an incredible job, once again, at hyping us up for the game’s launch on Xbox and PC in a few day's time.

The time is almost here, check out Starfield's latest trailer below

Fans are already putting together a plan for their first playthrough, whether it be charting the galaxy for where they want to go first, creating their character and ship early, or thinking about what their RPG build will be.

It hasn’t been all smooth sailing though, as Starfield has been wrapped up in its fair share of controversy, mainly its exclusivity to Xbox, and the topic of today’s discussion, the game’s framerate. Fans were disappointed to learn that despite their expensive current-gen hardware, Starfield’s framerate would be capped at 30fps to ensure graphical fidelity, some even tried to have this changed through petitions.

Todd Howard addressed the framerate issue by stating if Starfield was to run itself at 60fps, it’d have to sacrifice too much, which is why the team decided to cap it off at 30.

While Xbox fans are fresh out of luck for 60fps Starfield, PC users are a different story, thanks to a leak of the game’s settings menu.

According to the leak, PCs running an AMD Ryzen 3800X with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080Ti can run Starfield at 45-60fps for most of its gameplay. It can even push itself to 60-70fps while flying around space in a starship or exploring the game’s dungeons. dungeons and space, the aforementioned PC system can push 60-70fps. Even more powerful PCs could also run the game at the aforementioned framerate at 1440p.

While the leak includes screenshots of the settings, it doesn’t feature any screenshots of gameplay with a performance overlay, so we can’t see a detailed look at the game’s capabilities until it’s released on PC.

Regardless it’s good to know it is possible to push performance past the 30fps cap on PC, though it’s a shame Xbox players will be forever restricted in how they enjoy the game.

Starfield releases on the 1st of September with early access and on the 6th of September for everyone else on Xbox and PC.
