Red Dead Redemption 2 gets bounty hunter expansion you can download free

Be the most infamous bounty hunter in the Wild West

There are not many games quite as immersive as Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption 2, a game considered to be one of the greatest of all time and that’s saying something considering it's from the Grand Theft Auto developer.

Despite the number two in its name, 2018’s Red Dead Redemption 2 is the prequel to the Western smash of 2010 starring the lovable, somewhat corrupt John Marston. However, Red Dead Redemption 2, stars Arthur Morgan, a leading member of the infamous Dutch van der Linde gang, a group of outlaws of which John Marston is also a member.

Aside from the incredible story that will keep you hooked from start to finish (and perhaps shed a few tears), Red Dead Redemption 2 has been praised for its huge, vibrant open world, varied side activities, interesting cast of characters and fun gameplay. On the aggregate website Metacritic, Red Dead Redemption 2 earned a well-deserved score of 97, establishing itself as one of the best.

So how on Earth do you make this Rockstar Games gem even better, I hear you ask? Well, thanks to the dedicated modding community, talented indie developers continue to breathe new life into the games we love and Red Dead Redemption 2 is no exception.

Among the many side activities that Red Dead Redemption 2 has to offer is its bounty hunter missions. As Arthur Morgan, you will hunt down the most wanted men and women of the Wild West (excluding Arthur, seemingly) to earn money to spend on new weapons, and cosmetics or to drink away at the bar and a mod is available now for free via NexusMods, which further enhances the bounty hunter experience.

The mod in question is called ‘Bounty Hunting Dialogues’ and it does pretty much exactly what it says on the tin. This may seem like a basic mod but in my opinion, it’s often the most subtle improvements that can make the biggest difference.

“Immerse yourself deeper into the Wild West with Bounty Hunting Dialogues (Arthur Edition), a mod designed to enrich your gameplay experience in RDR2,” the description of the mod reads. “Developed with a focus on immersion, this mod enhances interactions with sheriffs through dynamic dialogue exchanges.”

To expand further on what the mod brings to the table, its creator RedPeds says on the NexusMods page that it’s added a new prompt which will allow you to start conversations with Sheriffs more easily to ask them if there are any bounty hunter missions available. What’s more, the modder also suggests that this mod should be combined with the ‘Bounty Hunting - Expanded and Enhanced’ for a more immersive experience.

Unfortunately, as with the nature of most mods, ‘Bounty Hunting Dialogues’ and ‘Bounty Hunting - Expanded and Enhanced’ are only for the PC version of the game. For the rest of us, we’ll have to enjoy Red Dead Redemption 2 on PlayStation and Xbox as originally intended.
