While we wait for Fallout 5 to grace us with its presence, fans of the post-apocalyptic series should keep tabs on this remake.
Long before Bethesda Softworks acquired the rights to the Fallout series in 2004, it was already a popular RPG property on PC.
That being said, when Fallout 3 was released in 2008, it marked a real turning point and the series has continued to go from strength to strength ever since.

From that moment on, we’ve seen sequels and spin-offs, tabletop board games, and much more.
We’ve even had the fantastic 2024 live-action Fallout adaptation from Amazon, which is now going into its second season.

However, if you were after some classic Fallout goodness with a modern update, then look no further than this upcoming fan remake of 1998’s Fallout 2, which was originally published by Interplay Productions and developed by Black Isle Studios.

The Fallout 2 remake in question is called Fallout 4: Project Arroyo, and as the name of the remake might suggest, it’s being developed using Fallout 4’s Creation engine.
Fallout 4: Project Arroyo already has a large team working hard to bring the remake to life with over 100 volunteers from developers to artists, voice actors, composers, and more.
Now, the developers of the Fallout 2 remake are looking to take the project to the next level by hiring talented level design volunteers to help bring its world to life.
Fallout 4: Project Arroyo does not have a release date at the time of writing, but be sure to follow the developers on social media to be kept updated with its progress.

When the remake is ready, it will not only be available on Steam but also on PC mod platforms such as NexusMods and Bethesda’s Creation Club.
I should also add that Fallout 5 still does not have a release date, but it might be safe to assume that it will be a next-gen title at this point.
