In recent years, the Pokémon franchise has simplified the different types of mobility mechanics that were once driving factors of gameplay in older titles. Now, players are begging for these options to return in the next game.

Most long-time Pokémon fans likely remember the HM (Hidden Machine) struggles of early titles in the franchise. In order to explore the vast maps offered in each game, players would need to teach Pokémon specific moves, and these became a burden as more HMs were added in each new Gen.

To deal with this, later titles like Sun & Moon and Let’s Go, Eevee! & Let’s Go, Pikachu! Made it so that players could ride on and use different Pokémon as a special mechanic instead of forcing them to juggle exploration moves.

However, in the most recent games of the series, these interactive options have been shortened down to nothing more than one Pokémon or a bike that acts as water and ground transportation. While this structure is simple, it has also removed many of the exploration options, as well as general interaction with wider Pokémon teams.

Fans Want To Ride Any Pokémon in Gen 10

In a recent social media post by UniteVids, the Pokémon fan has called on The Pokémon Company to bring back diverse ride mechanics, and players in the comments wholeheartedly agree.

In the post, a video clip of ride options from previous games has been included. Players in the comments have flooded in with support for the request, with one stating, “Yeah riding mons was the best part honestly.”

With the Pokémon Day 30th Anniversary Presents livestream officially confirmed for February 27, 2026, there is widespread hope that a Gen 10 reveal could be part of the lineup. However, nothing has been confirmed by The Pokémon Company at this time.

Despite this, the request for more interaction between trainers and their companions seems like a top priority for Pokémon fans, and the return of the mechanic would likely be celebrated if it were included in the next generation of the main line series.
