Pokémon fans didn’t exactly get what they were hoping for at yesterday’s Super Bowl.
The famed sports event draws far more viewers than merely football fans, with many tuning in simply for the occasion’s adverts or halftime concert.
It’s incredibly costly to debut an advert during the Super Bowl, with corporations splashing out millions of dollars to do just that.
This year, for example, saw Disney debut a new trailer for The Mandalorian and Grogu. The Pokémon Company also stopped by amidst its 30th anniversary year.

On 27 February, it’ll be 30 years to the day since Pokémon Red and Green first launched in Japan. That particular date is known as Pokémon Day and every year, it brings us a Pokémon Presents showcase filled with updates and announcements.
Fans are expecting this year’s version to be extra special due to the anniversary, with many hoping that the 27 February will bring us a Gen 10 announcement at the very least.
Some, however, thought Gen 10 might be revealed during the Super Bowl, especially given that The Pokémon Company was confirmed to be dropping an ad.
Pokémon’s Super Bowl Reveal Resulted In Some ’New Game’ Confusion
The ad isn’t all what we expected though. Gen 10 was nowhere to be seen, with The Pokémon Company instead focusing on a slew of celebrities revealing their favourite ‘mon.
Shortly after the ad aired though, The Pokémon Company did reveal a number of upcoming projects including Pokémon Day Out and Pokémon Night Out.
Many mistook these for new video games, but they’re actually real life events.

“Day Out events will feature family-friendly activities and programming,” reads an announcement on the Pokémon website.

“Night Out events will have fun surprises in store for longtime fans who grew up with Pokémon. More details on both Day Out and Night Out will be announced in the future,” it continued.
Vague, but that’s really all we have for now.
No information was given on where these events might take place, but I’m going to hazard a guess that they’ll be limited to the world’s major cities.
Tokyo, New York, and London all feel like strong candidates.
I’m very curious about the Night Out variety of events. Listen, I hate clubs, but if this is teasing a Pokémon club, I might be in.
I’d love to tell you that people are thrilled about these events, but they’re most just frustrated they were duped into thinking new games were coming.
“Yayyyyy, new Pokémon gam- oh wait,” said Twitter/X user Weavileistic.
“What’s it for? What game exactly?” added a confused jsprimrose99.
“Would not even have been mad if those were game titles,” remarked VintageBirt.
The saving grace amidst all of this is that Pokémon Day is rapidly approaching, and we’ll be bringing you all of the latest announcements on 27 February.
