WWE 2K26 Devs Confirm Fan-Favourite Feature Is Set to Return

We sat down with the devs to answer your questions

WWE 2K26 is only a few weeks away, and it promises to be the biggest and best entry in the series for another consecutive year with a bigger roster, new modes, a Showcase campaign starring CM Punk and more.

One of the most popular modes in the series is MyFACTION, which is kind of like WWE 2K’s answer to Ultimate Team in the EA Sports FC series. But, with this being the world of pro wrestling, it’s about collecting elusive cards and characters, building dream factions and taking on the many live-service challenges that this mode has to offer.

However, there’s still not a great deal we know about this iteration of MyFACTION, but thankfully, I had a chance to speak with two developers at Visual Concepts: Brian Mazique, an associate designer on MyFACTION, aka the “Live Event King”, and Terrell Carter, the lead designer.

Is World Tour Returning in WWE 2K26?

World Tour was such a promising mode in WWE 2K25, well, with at least what we had. The idea was to take on challenges in the US, UK, Europe and Japan to unlock bonus characters and currency.

However, for months on end, only the US region was unlocked. In January this year, Japan finally unlocked it. Then World Tour glitched, opened up some other regions, before they were removed. World Tour had potential, but ultimately it was severely lacking in intended content.

So, is World Tour returning in WWE 2K26? Yes, it is. The developers told me that they intended for there to be a regular stream of content in 2K25, but by the sounds of it, that task was underestimated, along with all the other modes and updates the game required. Yet, it seems lessons will be learned, and World Tour should be a much better experience in WWE 2K26.

“The plan is to do more regular updates, adding to the MyFACTION modes,” says Terrell. “World Tour has a lot of content, and we need to get the pacing right. We have a plan throughout the year, and it should be more enjoyable this time around. Pacing will be the key with smaller but regular chunks.”

Will the UK and European Regions Finally Unlock in WWE 2K25’s World Tour?

The short answer is no, but Terrell told me that both of those regions and more will be on WWE 2K26’s World Tour.

Will Cards Be More Distinguishable to Avoid Incorrect Purchases for Live Events?

I’ve seen the latest Live Events in WWE 2K25’s MyFACTION, and the cards required to play those challenges (or so I thought). I grind the modes, earn MFP (in-game currency) to buy the cards I need, so that I can unlock new rewards. However, I’ve just gone and purchased the wrong card from the marketplace. This card looks almost identical to the one I needed, wasting all my in-game currency I earned, resulting in yet another facepalm moment. I’m sure I’m not alone in doing this (or at least, I hope).

“One of the bigger things to make cards more distinguishable is that we’ve blown out badges,” explains Brian. “We have someone on our team who is really dynamic. It's fantastic to add more badges, which helps to distinguish a version of a Superstar card from another.”

After the interview concluded, Al, a PR at 2K, asked the devs if they could add a “required” badge and increase the font size on the cards, to help prevent buying the wrong Live Event card. Let’s see if that’s implemented in WWE 2K26.

Will Superstars' Attire Match the Card Artwork?

Some of the cards in MyFACTION look great with unique artwork and Superstar photos. However, it can feel disappointing when the in-game attire doesn't match what’s on the card.

“Sometimes, it’s very hard to match the photo on the card to the in-game attire. Someone like Seth Rollins might not wear the same gear twice, same with Bianca Belair, and Chelsea Green. They can change clothes quicker than it takes in-game, but we do our best. But going into WWE 2K26, I am personally trying to get as many fresh images for the cards as possible,” says Brian.

“It’s kinda hard to say anything with spoiling, but we have a target of having more personal cards than last year. I can tell you that,” Terrell teases.

MyFACTION Cards Will Have Chemistry, but How Will It Work?

One of the new mechanics for MyFACTION cards is chemistry. My initial assumption is that this might be similar to Ultimate Team in EA Sports FC. In the EA game, stats will be boosted, such as speed, passing, and shooting, for players of the same team, same nationality, league, and so forth. But that’s not quite how it works in WWE 2K26.

“Chemistry affects how your card plays, whether it’s a Superstar or manager. Cards in your line-up will synergise, which might trigger positive or negative traits,” Terrell explains. “A positive trait might improve the chances of another Superstar running in to help you, such as a real–life faction member. Or a negative trait might trigger a teammate to reject your tag, making you go it alone.”

“Some traits might evolve to what we might see on live WWE TV,” adds Brian. “For example, it looks like Raquel Rodriguez might turn on Judgement Day, or someone might turn on her. So her story arc with Liv Morgan and Roxanne Perez might be reflected in a new MyFACTION card. So the Judgement Day might have great chemistry in-game, one week, but bad the next if they disband.

“It’s a bit safe using positive chemistry with legendary factions like D-X or the NWO, and things can change with current roster talent. But there will be other ways for players to experiment with cards and find the right chemistry combo for them to achieve different actions and traits, especially when creating unique factions.”

How Will the Ringside Pass Work in MyFACTION?

Rather than having traditional DLC, all additional content will be delivered via the Ringside Pass. There will be six in total during the annual cycle of WWE 2K26. It will have 60 free tiers and 40 premium tiers per pass. But how will it work in MyFACTION?

“Just by playing the game, no matter what qualified mode you’re playing, it advances the Ringside Pass. We want to make sure that it’s cohesive across the board. Some tasks might unlock a card that needs to be used in one mode, to unlock a reward for another. It’s about adding value to the modes,” says Brian.

Prices on the MyFACTION Card Market?

It’s fair to say that some of the individual cards to purchase in the market were very expensive. So, can we expect something more reasonable in WWE 2K26?

“They should be more comparable to what players saw last year. We saw the reaction to the card market from the community when we lowered prices, and we wanna try to maintain that moving forward,” explains Terrell.

“We’ve also been talking a lot about pack odds and how to approach them, and we’re trying to make odds feel fairer for the players, for those that want to buy them, alongside the Ringside Pass. It’s something that’s usually on a pack-by-pack basis, but it’s something we’re definitely looking at,” Terrell continues.

What Is a Quick Swap Tag?

Quick Swap Tag is a new mechanic that was mentioned during the announcement of WWE 2K26 but at this time, there’s not a lot we know about it.

Terrell explained that basically, wrestlers will spawn in when you “tag” them, rather than all being on the apron. It sounds kind of like a 4v4 match, but it will be 1v1 in the ring. When tagging, Superstars swapping in is comparable to Marvel vs Capcom. Wins will be determined via knockout. Signatures and Finishers will be a singular entity across all four Superstars. So if you built up a Signature and Finisher with Penta, you can spawn in Roman Reigns to deliver a Superman punch and Spear.

WWE 2K26 will be released on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2 on Friday, 13 March for the standard edition (CM Punk cover), or Friday, 6 March for the King of Kings Edition, Attitude Era Edition and the Monday Night Wars Edition.
