With the release of GTA VI on the horizon, gamers should consider taking one important step before placing their pre-order.

Assuming that GTA VI suffers no further delay, something that fans will desperately hope won't happen, we can all look forward to Rockstar Games’ next entry arriving later this year. That being said, we all know that another delay is still always a possibility.

Much like all Grand Theft Auto games that came before, GTA VI will most likely be pushing the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S hardware to its absolute limits in terms of graphic fidelity, performance, map size and its volume of content.

The prospective demands of GTA VI are probably why it will follow in the footsteps of its 2013 predecessor, GTA V, launching across multiple console generations, with each version of the game improving over the last.

Is It Time to Upgrade Ready for GTA VI?

Well, that depends on your console. Obviously, if you exclusively own a PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, you’ll have no chance of playing GTA VI on those systems, with it being a current-gen only title.

If you own a base PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X, you’ll be just fine to play GTA VI. It can also be played on an Xbox Series S, but expect a reduction in resolution and performance.

At the time of writing, the absolute best way to experience GTA VI would be to play it on a PlayStation 5 Pro. That being said, with the seemingly never-ending price hikes, even on base consoles, a PS5 Pro does not come cheap, especially if you factor in an additional purchase of a disc drive.

Still, no matter which version of a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series console you own, you‘ll be able to play the next entry of the Grand Theft Auto series, and hopefully, have an absolute blast with it.

What’s the Story of GTA VI?

“Vice City, USA. Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them,” reads the synopsis of GTA VI.

“But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive.”

Grand Theft Auto VI will be released on 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Its PC port hasnt been announced yet.
