Those excited for Rockstar Games’ upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI are facing yet another setback.
While the game very much remains on track to launch on 19 November, you shouldn’t expect pre-orders to arrive just yet.
For a number of weeks now, so-called insiders have been claiming that pre-orders are set to arrive imminently.
In fact, US retailer Best Buy conveyed to its affiliate partners that pre-orders would be opening up on 18 May, which proved to be false.

Every single day, GTA VI hopefuls have come up with theories to justify why that particular day is when pre-orders will open.
You can put those theories to bed for a while though, as pre-orders have been delayed to next month.
Yesterday, Rockstar Games’ parent company, Take-Two Interactive held its latest earnings call.
It sadly didn’t deliver the pre-orders and trailer three updates GTA VI fans wanted, but Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick did offer a few updates on GTA VI’s timeline in the post-call Q&A.
Zelnick had previously said that marketing for GTA VI will kick off in the summer, which traditionally starts in June.
He doubled down on that sentiment, adding, “So in the next few weeks, I don’t think it’ll be summertime yet, but when it’s summertime, Rockstar expects to start marketing GTA VI.”
It’s not going to be early June either, given that Zelnick said we’re a “few weeks” away, so everyone can relax and unwind until this time next month.
That definitely rules GTA VI out of appearing in any of the upcoming showcases we have in early June.
There’s a State of Play on 2 June, Summer Game Fest on 5 June and Xbox Showcase on 7 June.

Some thought that GTA VI might appear during the State of Play, given that PlayStation has seemingly secured a marketing deal with Rockstar Games.
In a way, this is quite nice as it means all of the upcoming announcements won’t be lost in the shadow of GTA VI opening its pre-orders.
Instead, everything gets its time in the spotlight in the next couple of weeks before Rockstar Games comes wading in with its behemoth announcement.
That does mean that, for now, we’re still in the dark about how much GTA VI will cost, how many editions there will be, and what raw gameplay actually looks like.
Let’s face it though, there’s a very, very high chance that GTA VI will be worth the wait.
One insider has claimed there will be six versions of the game, which is pretty apt considering the title of GTA VI.
They supposedly know of three digital and physical versions, a collector’s edition, and two PlayStation console bundles.
Do take all of that information with a pinch of salt. When something concrete does arrive, we’ll bring that update to you.
