Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer just got a massive update

Hang out with your friends in Night City

The CyberMP mod for Cyberpunk 2077 has been updated, meaning it’ll soon be possible to explore Night City with your friends

No online multiplayer modes felt like a bit of a fumble for Cyberpunk 2077 when it first launched, but given how many problems it had during development and months after release, it makes sense why CD Projekt RED prioritised a stable single-player experience first.

It all worked out for the best, as Cyberpunk 2077 is an excellent game that’s well-worth your time and investment.

That said, I do hope multiplayer is featured in the sequel, whether it be mission-based or something more open like GTA: Online.

If CD Projekt RED does decide multiplayer would be a good inclusion, it should definitely take some notes from CyberMP, a multiplayer mod for the game that supports 20 players at once.

Unfortunately, you can’t try the new version out for yourself just yet and it’s not completed, but be patient, your time will come.

It’ll be worth the wait too as the latest patch confirms improved syncing for player appearances, vehicles, and other in-game features.

Soon, it’ll be moving to the beta phase, where more players will be able to give it a go for themselves.

Commenting on the mod’s update, lead creator S1nger said “Huge thanks to everyone who's been following and supporting the project. I'm committed to making the multiplayer experience more stable and polished as we move steadily from beta toward the official release.”

If you want to follow the mod’s progress, it has an official Discord channel where the update discussed earlier was shared; it's worth keeping an eye on, especially if you want to be amongst the first players to experience the beta.

Exploring Night City with up to 20 players sounds like a dream come true, and hopefully if it’s successful, it’ll prompt CD Projekt RED to create its own multiplayer mode in the next Cyberpunk game.
