Cyberpunk 2077 Multiplayer Is Threatening To Take Over Our Lives

This is getting out of hand, now there are two of them

Cyberpunk 2077 is getting multiplayer, and I can’t quite believe my eyes.

Now nearly five years old, Cyberpunk 2077 has come a long way from its original buggy state. Back in 2020, the game became infamous for being one of the biggest botched launches of all time.

Not only was the game criticised by fans for being buggy and incomplete in some areas, but others also disliked that the design of the game felt lacking in some areas.

CD Projekt Red never added multiplayer to Cyberpunk 2077—not that the game ever needed to be a multiplayer experience to begin with—but fans have now made that prospect a reality with the new project CyberMP.

CyberMP does as you would expect: it adds multiplayer to Cyberpunk 2077.

Currently in beta, the mod allows you and some friends to wreak havoc on the inhabitants of Night City together.

It’s not available to the public yet, but the CyberMP team consists of ten developers working around the clock to bring multiplayer to the Cyberpunk 2077 experience.

CyberMP supports servers of up to at least eight people, though the mod development team has not disclosed if this number may be greater in the final release.

Since the FAQ on the mod’s Discord server is pretty light on details, it appears that all the planned features for the final version are not set in stone.

The mod is still in beta, after all, so expect hefty updates until the development team is ready for release. These updates usually come in the form of video developer diaries uploaded to YouTube.

If you are keen to try it out sooner however, CyberMP does accept volunteer testers. You can get involved with that by joining the CyberMP Discord server and signing up for participation. You'll find the link to the Discord via the developer's YouTube channel. It usually runs testing periods from time-to-time, so it’s worth keeping an eye out for any announcements.

All-in-all, CyberMP looks like it might be taking over our lives once it is released to the public. With such an expansive world, it’ll be fun to see how exploring it with a few friends might completely change the experience.
