Nintendo Switch owners are getting even more freebies this month, this time based on the Super Mario series.
We’ve already had some Pokémon icons from both Pokémon Legends: Z-A and the Mystery Dungeons titles but this time we’re focusing on the many Mario games you can currently play on the Switch family of consoles.
We’ve even played a few upcoming titles early, and currently have thoughts on both Mario Tennis Fever and Super Mario Bros. Wonder: Meetup in Bellabel Park.
Speaking of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, the game is once again being represented through a collection of Nintendo Switch Online icons. Mario, Luigi and the rest of the gang are now available to claim sporting some of the various power-ups you’ll find in the platformer, including the infamous Elephant Mario.

That’s not all though, Super Mario Bros. 3D + Bowser’s Fury also gets a bit of a love with Cat Mario, the Double Cherry and Bowser’s oddly horrifying Fury form.
I love how Nintendo made Bowser genuinely menacing for one spin-off and then completely forgot about it, very cool.

Mario Kart is also here as we all expected it would be, with cherry-picked racers from the game’s roster making an appearance. Oddly though these are from Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and not Mario Kart World.
Finally the last collection of icons is a bit of a weird one. There are a few pictures snapped from Super Mario Odyssey which also include some of the 2D sprite recreations you’ll find in the game. A good example is the New Donk City level where you basically play a round of Donkey Kong with Pauline providing a stellar backing track.
All of these icons are accompanied by backgrounds too, which are only compatible with the set they’re seen beside, you can’t mix and match I’m afraid.
As always each of these will set you back 5-10 platinum points each, which isn’t so bad as you earn those through gameplay and completing very straight-forward challenges. That said I wouldn’t recommend spending them all at once as you can also use these points for real-life products from the Nintendo Store.
If you want to make your Nintendo Switch profile look more snazzy though, this is the way to do it and there’ll be plenty more where these come from I guarantee it.
